Advisor Development Program Summer Analyst Intern

June - August 2018 • Minnetonka, MN

What I liked

The people I worked with were so encouraging and welcoming. They wanted nothing but for us to have the best experience we could have with them. Our manager connected us with several networking opportunities as well as time with the other lines of businesses.

What I wish was different

I wish the intern program itself would have been a bit more structured.

Advice

Don't be afraid to ask questions in order to build knowledge about the career you would like to pursue/ are interested in.

Global Information Security Summer Intern

June - August 2019 • New York City, NY

What I liked

I liked how I was able to work on both the program's overall intern project and worked with other interns across the U.S., as well as to work with my manager on her own work. I especially liked how they flew us to the headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina to present our project to the Senior Leadership Team.

What I wish was different

I wish I was applying the skills I learned in the classroom to the internship. I told my manager about my concerns about wanting to code. However, because she did not work on that, she couldn't give me any work for that.

Advice

To network!!! Everyone is willing to share 15 minutes to answer any question!

What I wish was different

Work space in the Bank of America Tower was a trading floor, absolutely terrible noise level, with traders shouting frequently

Advisor Development Program Intern

June - August 2019 • Elk Grove, CA

What I liked

Lots of locations available so I got to live at home. Pay was good and it was full time. Big company name to put on resume. Nice people in my office.

What I wish was different

I didn’t learn much and the manager didn’t know what I would be doing all summer. They just had me greet people at the bank all day. The days went by very slowly.

Advice

Try and get the Merrill track. If not, find a different internship.

Advisor Development Intern

June - August 2019 • Hillsboro, OR

What I liked

I liked being in a financial Center and being able to travel to different ones to see how all different roles work together. I also enjoyed working on group projects with other interns in different offices throughout the west coast.

What I wish was different

I wish I could have had more direct, personal contact with other interns, as everything was via phone or video conference. I also wish I would have had more access to the Merrill Lynch offices and would have been able to shadow an FA in their offices, rather than the ones that sit-in at the banking centers.

Advice

Come in with an open mind and be willing to do whatever they ask to do, whether it relates to your wished career path or not. You're going to learn so much from working in a financial center.

Advice

It is always great to try a big company like Bank of America once in life because one learns how big companies operate together with so many divisions.
