I liked the community there- nice, friendly people and a welcoming atmosphere. My bosses always kept me in the loop and gave me things to do, and I was able to learn a lot about what kind of things went on there. Work wasn't very stressful but I didn't get bored often either. All in all it felt like a very familiar work environment- nothing was too surprising about my time there.
What I wish was different
I was by far the youngest person there- the people were friendly but the age gap was still a barrier to integrating. That's really my only complaint, but still it got a bit lonely being the only intern in the office.
Advice
Don't overthink it. You'll be fine, and the people there want you to succeed. Try to enjoy DC and get a place in town- don't live in crystal city, it's boring. The people at SiriusXM can only do so much for you, and it'll be up to you to round out the rest of your summer. Try to find other interns or get involved with other communities in the area. Keep an open mind and you'll learn a lot from both the job and the people you meet elsewhere.

Talk Entertainment Production Intern
September 2023 • Los Angeles, CA
What I liked
I have had such a positive experience at this internship so far. I appreciate that the tasks I am given are substantial and meaningfully support the shows that I work for. My supervisors have strong standards, but are patient and involved teachers. SiriusXM as a company also supports their interns well, and offers a variety of career development and mentorship opportunities at the corporate level.
What I wish was different
There is not much that I would change about my experience. The only thing I could think of is that I did not receive much communication in between accepting my offer and starting my internship, which made me a bit nervous leading up to my first day. Just something to keep in mind if you are someone who likes to know exactly what to expect entering a new situation.
Advice
Take any opportunity that is thrown your way-- step up when the situation allows for it, but you'll get just as much out of being a fly on the wall and observing your colleagues and supervisors. Don't be afraid to ask questions, 9 times out of 10 people will be so open to helping you.

Client Services Intern
May - August 2022 • Chicago, IL
What I liked
The team was very supportive and the company gave a lot of opportunities for networking, career development, and exploration during the internship period.
What I wish was different
I wish I took away more technical skills with me. While I learned the overview of the team's work and organization, I can't say confidently that I mastered any of the skills that I've learned during my few months there.
Advice
Network. At a company this size, everyone you meet is a valuable connection. Make yourself stand out by talking to people! Also, be proactive. Reach out first and ask to help out. That'll help you grow and learn.

I liked how I was getting experience working in a big city and a big company. I was also working in a team, so it was nice to have people working with at all times.

I would share to always be on time at your internship and always ask if there's anything you can do to help, even when they don't give you a task.

Programming Intern
September 2017 • New York City, NY
What I liked
One of the most valuable things that I like about my current internship is the amount of hands-on work there is to the internship and the constant communication with my mentors. I believe that those two things are the most important things in looking for an internship - how much experience will you gain and having a mentor that checks on you and your progress. You won't gain too much from just watching your employers work and you won't learn anything if you don't ask.
What I wish was different
I'm still currently working at my internship and if anything what I'm trying to work on right now is not only learning about everything in my position, but to see I can do more of. I think everything that I've been doing has been a great experience, but what will take me to the next level is being more curious about the company, network with other departments, and to just be clear and concise in what I want to achieve before my internship ends.
Advice
Never be afraid to ask questions - if anything, it's worse if you don't communicate with your boss/mentor. If you see them doing something that you have never learned or you are curious about it, you should definitely ask them to teach you how to do it. You will never grow as an intern or even as a future employer if you never ask them for help or to let them teach you something you've never done before. Communicate, communicate, communicate.
