Position Summary:
The Trade Compliance Intern will facilitate DRS business by assisting with implementing and maintaining internal export / import controls to ensure compliance with U.S. Government export / import regulations such as the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), U.S. Customs and Border Protection Regulations, Economic Embargo Regulations, and Importation of Arms, Ammunition and Implements of War Regulations..
 
Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Monitors Federal Register notices and publications for regulatory changes and industry trends that impact DRS.
  • Develops communications and materials on the application and implementation of U.S. Government export / import regulations to the internal business unit.
  • Assists in the review of export / import licenses, agreements, permits, certifications and technology release determinations. 
  • Develops processes, procedures and tools to ensure compliance with U.S. Government export / import regulations and Company policies. 
  • Provides reports and updates metrics pertaining to various elements including compliance of the export / import processes. 
  • Maintains export / import files and records in accordance with U.S. Government export / import regulations and Company policy.
  • Assists in developing training materials as it relates to export / import requirements.
  • Supports export / import compliance monitoring activities (e.g. self-assessments, internal audits, external audits).
  • Supports investigations and other compliance matters. 
  • Participates in business and corporate projects focusing on trade compliance.
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization

Basic Qualifications:                                                                      
  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Trade or related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrates the ability to analyze and solve problems
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
