The person filling this role will be learning and performing a variety of duties aimed at supporting the accounting process for more than 60 projects worldwide, in accordance with funder and IREX's procedures, policies and regulations. Among other qualifications, the ideal candidate will have experience working in accounting and/or finance with mid-to-large size organizations implementing federal grants and/or contracts; specific experience in account receivable, billing and general ledger is highly desirable. They will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a high degree of customer service orientation, and ability to work independently and effectively across borders and cultures. They must have a proven record of analytical accomplishments. Proficiency in advanced MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Power Point, as well as knowledge of Costpoint or similar accounting systems is required.

Your Background & Skills
  • Actively pursuing a degree (Associate, Bachelor, or Master) or recent graduate.
  • Some work experience is a plus, but not required; may include a combination of part-time, internships, etc.
  • Experience in navigating accounting systems and processes a plus, but not required
  • Must have some knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure, with ability to multi-task.
  • Able to maintain high level of customer service and foster open communication channels.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and proven experience in meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively across borders and cultures required.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint applications.
  • Speaking, reading, and writing proficiency in English required.
  • You must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.

Your Daily Tasks
  • Records cash receipts accurately and timely in Costpoint, follows up and maintains the incoming cash log.
  • Maintains accurate billing log and billing schedule; records bills following funder and IREX’s procedures, policies and regulations.
  • Assists in processing semimonthly Letter-of-Credit (LOC) drawdowns in Deltek Costpoint; prepares semimonthly cash projection journal entries and LOC drawdown invoices.
  • Assists in administrating IREX’s Corporate credit card program including travel, AMEX and VISA. Follows up with counterparts to timely reconcile the related accounts.
  • Conducts receivable/ unbilled/ deferred revenue related account reconciliation.
  • Reviews and processes Global Offices Expense Reports on a timely basis to support internal assurance.
  • Maintains proper accounting department backup documentation and files.
  • Recognizes potential internal control issues and communicate them to the accounting management team.
  • Assists with month close process.
  • Assists in preparing monthly reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
  • Assists with other accounting functions and tasks on an as-needed basis.
  • Assists in managing and coordinating monthly and quarterly funder financial reports review.
  • Reviews coding and description of invoices processed in field offices and headquarters to ensure they are in compliance with IREX internal policies, procedures, and best practices, as well as with funder requirements.
  • Maintains proper accounting records and documentation.
  • Assists in annual financial audit.
  • Works with Senior Accountant, Staff Accountant, and other staff.
