Government Relations Summer Intern

This internship position provides assistance to the Government Relations Department regarding laws and regulations impacting the high tech, broadband, and communications sectors that are of interest to NCTA’s members, including antitrust, cable franchising, broadband accessibility and adoption, privacy, and rural broadband support. The position will offer unique opportunities to gain valuable work experience and knowledge of Congress, the Department of Commerce, USDA Rural Utility Service, the FCC, FTC, and state governments.
Job Description:
· Monitor, track, and analyze legislation and regulations and upload information into data management system
· Monitor and report on Congressional hearings, markups, and floor proceedings as assigned
· Attend and summarize webinars, seminars, and panel discussions
· Conduct research and prepare member/candidate profiles, briefing papers, weekly reports, presentations, and other materials for distribution to NCTA and its members
· Assist the Government Relations team with other research and writing projects as assigned
Qualifications:
· Currently attending school
· BA or BS from an accredited college or university with a distinguished academic record
· Able to work from home/school, using own computer and NCTA’s office should it re-open
· Proficiency required with Microsoft Office products (including Excel and Power Point) and preferred with SalesForce and AirTable.
· Strong analytical and research skills
· Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
· Understanding of the legislative process and familiarity with telecommunications issues is desirable
· Good judgment and initiative
