Financial Management Team Intern

Project Summary:
The Financial Management Team (FMT) Department is responsible for building and managing all excel budget trackers at MSI, internal risk management documents, and a financial report for the Executive Management Team. FMT’s goal/area is supporting MSI Project Teams in the budget management of their contracts thru the three tools, but primarily the excel budget trackers.

Position Summary:
The Financial Management Team (FMT) Intern will assist in most areas of the excel budgets to make sure they are working properly. The FMT position will last approximately three months, with the possibility for extension based on performance, how well the candidate works with the team, and the business needs of the Finance team. Internships require a maximum commitment of 35 hours per week with a flexible schedule and is presently remote due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This is a paid position.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Project Financial Management team.
- Work on Excel budget trackers and budget reports.
- Build and check budget trackers as well as perform repair when necessary.
- Review financial reports for accuracy.
- Assist with reviews of portfolio-wide projections and risk analysis.
- Provide additional support to the Financial Management team as needed.
- Develop technical skills to work in and understand complex excel budget trackers in support of FMT’s goal of supporting Project Teams’ management of their contracts.
Qualifications:
- Pursuing undergraduate degree in finance, economics, data science, statistics, or business preferred.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and ability to learn new software programs quickly, strong background in Excel and PowerPoint required.
- Strong presentation and preparation skills.
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal, required.
