Fundraising, Development and Membership Intern Spring 2023

National Legal Aid & Defender Association
Development, Fundraising and Membership Intern
The National Legal Aid & Defender Association (NLADA), founded in 1911, is America’s oldest and largest nonprofit association devoted to excellence in the delivery of legal services to those who cannot afford counsel. For 111 years, NLADA has pioneered access to justice at the national, state and local level through the creation of our public defender systems, groundbreaking legislation and the creation of institutions from the Racial Equity Institute to the Sentencing Project to the Legal Services Corporation. A leader in the development of national standards for indigent defense services, NLADA also provides advocacy, training and technical assistance to indigent defense programs across the country.

In particular, our focus in recent years has been on the theme of racial equity and safeguarding justice. Because the quality of justice in America should not depend on how much money a person has, NLADA leads a broad network of advocates on the front lines to advance justice and expand opportunity for all by promoting excellence in the delivery of legal services for people who cannot afford counsel.
