The MRS policy intern will assist the Office of Policy and Public Affairs advance their advocacy efforts and policy agenda related to immigrants, refugees, child migrants, and survivors and victims of human trafficking. The intern will engage in diverse activities, including research, document drafting, graphic and social media advocacy work attending meetings and note-taking, and providing various forms of administrative support. Contributes to the Bishops’ strategic plan for the Conference. Demonstrates willingness and ability to understand, respect and contribute to the USCCB mission and to fulfill job duties in accordance with its Catholic identity. This is an unpaid internship, but credit for school is a possibility. You must be able to work on Wednesdays and Fridays as part of your internship, due to job related responsibilities that fall on those days. Additional days and times are negotiable.

 

Requirements:

Educational Level: Undergraduate or Graduate student

Major Field/Specialty: Spanish, History, Political Science, Religious Studies, Philosophy, Legal or related areas

Language Requirement: (if any) Spanish Language fluency preferred  

 

Other Specialized Training: (i.e. word processing, personal computer, knowledge of Catholic Church, etc.)

  • A general understanding of the Catholic Church and its ethical tradition; word processing; familiarity with research databases.
  • A general understanding of migration and human rights issues related to migration.
