Crowe LLP

Technology Risk Consultant Intern

June - August 2017 • Atlanta, GA

What I liked

The people and culture are great. The staff are all friendly and incredibly helpful when you are stuck or have questions.

What I wish was different

More diversity within the firm and opportunity to engage in client-facing work. The internship program needs improvement.

Advice

Make sure you do your own research and studying on what the job functions actually are.

Financial Institution Audit Intern

June - August 2017 • Los Angeles, CA

What I liked

Crowe Horwath treated me as a staff employee which allowed me to complete tasks that I will be completing when I begin working in Fall 2018. In addition I mentioned that I would like to travel and they sent me to Chicago for 1 week and Las Vegas for 2 weeks.

What I wish was different

The only thing I disliked about the internship would be the location. I discovered during my internship that I do not enjoy living in Los Angeles and the traffic is horrible and I was in my car for over 3 hours almost everyday.

Advice

Ask questions when you need help, but make sure you have tried before hand. Working hard will pay off. Tell your supervisors what you are interested in and hopefully they can accommodate, for example I was interested in banks and credit unions instead of manufacturing companies.

Tax Intern

June - August 2018 • Sherman Oaks, CA

What I liked

I had the opportunity to develop professionally and socially in a progressive and supportive environment. From creating work papers to conducting full returns from start to finish, my firm assisted me in every way possible so that I can learn and grow with them.

What I wish was different

If I were assigned to roles with bigger responsibilities, so I can understand how it feels to work in the life of a full-time associate.

Advice

To make the best of your experience by getting to know the in's and out's of the business, and ASK ASK ASK questions.

Change Management Assistant

June - August 2018 • Oakbrook Terrace, IL

What I liked

I really enjoyed being able to apply what I had learned in my organizational studies and psychology classes to the real world. I enjoyed working towards solving interpersonal problems and observing my manager in a daily work environment. I really enjoyed the people I worked with and I think I learned a lot.

What I wish was different

The demographic of the company I worked at was slightly older, so it would have been nice to work at a younger internship in the city, but everybody I worked with was very nice and mature.

Advice

It's okay not to understand the jargon or unfamiliar concepts at a company. Don't get bogged down by the details--do you best to pay close attention, understand what you can, and be confident in your own abilities even if you're a little unsure.
